Pierre Matisse, The Met, 11/12/06

Oil on canvas by Balthus, 1938. This angle was the only one that didn't have his face blocked out from the gallery lighting. I love his tie, I love how short his sleeves are and I love how his red socks punctuate the rest of the ensemble. The socks also seem "scrunched" down and loose which is interesting. Was that Balthus or were they actually like that?

I like this a lot -- not only a nice outfit and a cool picture but a great idea on your part.
